Eleven Things You Can Do First Thing In The Morning Instead Of Checking And Scrolling Through Your Phone

I understand how easy it is to hear your alarm go off, grab your phone, dismiss it, start opening social media, emails and more just to find yourself aimlessly scrolling in order to feel connected with the world and maybe even help you from falling back asleep. I’ve been there and it did nothing but make me feel emptier and less than inside. The truth is, it’s a really unhealthy and unfulfilling way to start your day. It can add unwanted judgments, comparisons, anxiety and more. Try 1 or more of these 11 ways to start the day off on a positive note:

  1. Show GRATITUDE by saying thank you to God for another beautiful day to be alive here on earth then ease into the day with a few morning wake up stretches

  2. Meditate and/or daily devotions - connect with God or the higher power you align with.

  3. MOVE – move your body in a way that feels good to you.

  4. FOAM ROLL – self-massage is another great way to get the blood flowing and warm our bodies up after a great nights rest.

  5. JOURNAL – journal about what you are grateful for, prayers, dreams you had, how you envision the day ahead, or simply the thoughts going through your head.

  6. READ – keep an enjoyable book by your bedside and grab that to read instead of your phone.

  7. Morning SELF CARE routine – create a morning self care routine that gets you feeling refreshed and ready for the day

  8. BREATH WORK – try a breath work session to wake up and increase your energy as well as set the tone for the day

  9. EXERCISE – get your exercise in early, do something you enjoy whether that’s running, biking, lifting, hiking, or playing your favorite sport.

  10. Get out in NATURE – go for a walk outside, through a park, near the ocean, or a stroll through the woods, catch a sunrise – connect with nature and the beauty of the world.

  11. Make your bed and/or do a chore around the house

Although you may fear missing out on the virtual world, you won’t be. You will however be creating a more fulfilling feeling inside…feeling refreshed and ready to move forward with your day!

in love and wellness,

-Jess
